quick hack to restore wotrkingness to regular gifs. Creates a RGBA buffer independent of the gif type. I'll try to get it right later.

Change mapping between GIOCondition and GdkInputCondition
to match the way the Linux kernel does it. This should
fix problems where closed pipes were no longer signalling
GDK_INPUT_READ on systems with a native poll().
